We are seeking a hands-on and solutions-oriented Senior Manager, Payments Compliance to help us scale our payments business securely and responsibly across Southeast Asian markets. This role is critical in ensuring that our payments business operates in full alignment with regulatory requirements while enabling business innovation and speed. As a senior member of the Compliance team, you will work closely with Risk, Product, Business and senior leadership teams to provide pragmatic advice and solutions, build scalable controls, and maintain a strong compliance practice. You will also engage with local regulators on licensing, reporting, audits, and emerging developments in the regulatory landscape. What you will do:  Regulatory Compliance Leadership Assist the Payments Compliance Lead to oversee and enhance the payments compliance program across assigned jurisdictions. Interpret and advise Management on  payment-related regulations, licensing requirements, and MAS/regulatory guidelines. Conduct regular assessments and monitor changes in payments-related regulatory requirements to identify potential compliance gaps and recommend appropriate actions. Advisory & Partnership Act as the payments compliance advisor to product and business teams on new initiatives, features, and partnerships. Support compliance/regulatory aspects of product design, launch, etc. Regulatory Engagement Manage ongoing regulatory topics, inspections, audits, and correspondence with the regulators and partner financial institutions. Prepare and coordinate licensing applications, renewals, and any required regulatory filings. Compliance & Controls Assist to design and improve control frameworks to ensure adherence to AML, CFT, sanctions, and conduct requirements in payments. Help maintain an effective compliance framework for our payments-related franchise and ensure the Group's adherence to regulatory requirements. Assist and implement payment-compliance policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate regulatory risks and promote ethical behavior within the organization. Lead compliance testing related to payment services. People & Team Leadership Coach junior compliance team members. Assist to drive compliance education and embed a culture of ownership and accountability across the Payments organization, including facilitating training programs to promote awareness and understanding of Compliance obligations Requirements What we are looking for:  10+ years of relevant experience in payments, financial services, or fintech compliance. Strong knowledge of the MAS Payment Services Act and experience with its application in a business context. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines across Southeast Asia is preferred. Ability to work independently and provide sound judgment in ambiguous or evolving situations. Experience collaborating with product, tech, business and operations teams in a fast-moving environment. Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. CAMS, ICA, or other compliance certifications are a plus. Conducting investigations relating to ‘classic’ Transaction monitoring, screening alerts and on-chain transactions.    Managing financial crime risk for Zodia Custody across APAC and helping to translate local regulatory requirements into efficient operational processes by working with the local revenue team and group operations teams Reviewing due diligence (including KYC) completed by onboarding analysts and taking a leading role in assessing risk in relation to complex clients wanting to become customers of Zodia Custody. Assessing risk in relation to complex non-client relationships and partnerships that Zodia Custody enters into. Supporting the conduct of Quality Assurance Reviews into work completed by Helping respond to information requests from third parties and Zodia Custody partners as required. Assist in the compilation of risk metrics and the identification, escalation and management of financial crime risk including regular reporting to key risk management committees Supporting the review and update of department procedures and drive system and process improvements. To assist with any other operational tasks as might reasonably be requested. The role will be based in Singapore or Sydney. Whilst we expect you to work within local time-zone hours, there will occasionally be required meetings with group stakeholders and managers based in London. Requirements You have a minimum 4 years working in a digital assets, financial services or professional services firm with experience in financial crime compliance, operations or consulting; You have a good understanding of the regulatory framework in Singapore, Hong Kong or Australia, particularly relating to AML, Sanctions, Tax Evasion and Terrorist Financing; You have financial crime experience with client types such as high-net-worth individuals, complex entities or business lines such as digital assets, private banking or commercial banking; You have a good understanding of risk management; You're a self-starter, driving and autonomous, able to make prioritisation decisions and able to work independently with minimum supervision; You have experience managing multiple deadlines through to completion and have excellent attention to detail; You're resilient and comfortable working in a fast paced and ambiguous environment where the day to day job is constantly evolving and changing You are hands-on and great at execution; You're a team player and collaborate well with other people including with teams that may be partly remote; You have industry and market awareness of requirements, developments and initiatives that may impact Zodia and/or its clients in the financial crime compliance regulatory environment.
