Reports to: Head, Technical Services
Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
Provide technical support to vessels managed by company.
Attend to vessels as required.
Planned Maintenance Monitoring:
Oversee vessels' planned maintenance schedules.
Implement improvements as necessary.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure Masters and Chief Engineers are updated on statutory instruments and amendments issued by regulatory bodies.
Technical Input:
Provide input for service engagements and spare part procurement for vessels.
Role Substitution:
Act as 1st deputy DPA/CSO during the absence of the main holder.
Cover duties of Head, Technical Services during their absence.
Additional Delegated Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head, Technical Services (HTS).
Requirements
Requirements on Technical Expertise:
Deep Electrical Knowledge: A strong understanding of electrical principles, AC/DC systems, power distribution, and control systems. This includes knowledge of:
Power generation: Diesel generators, gas turbines, and renewable energy sources.
Power distribution: Transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cabling.
Electrical equipment: Motors, pumps, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems.
Safety systems: Emergency shutdown systems, fire detection, and alarm systems.
Experience with Offshore Electrical Systems: Familiarity with the unique challenges of electrical systems in offshore environments.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults, including the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
Maintenance and Repair: Experience in maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
Management and Communication:
Supervisory Skills: Ability to lead and manage a team of electricians and technicians.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with crew members, management, and other stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting: Ability to maintain accurate records of electrical work, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of relevant safety procedures and regulations.
Relevant Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications.
Offshore Experience: Prior experience working on offshore platforms, preferably in an electrical capacity.
