Drawing on expertise gained over half a century, the company created an ultra low noise and high powered integrated amplifier that outperforms even separate systems. E-800 Technical Features 1. Fully balanced configuration extending from input to output. 2. Mono-block construction. Power is handled by a massive specially made high-efficiency toroidal transformer and two large 60000μF custom made filtering capacitors. In addition, the two power amplifier units are kept separate for the left and right channels. 3. Balanced AAVA (Accuphase Analog Vari-gain Amplifier) Volume Control does away with conventional variable resistors. AAVA works by feeding music signals to a V-I (volt-current) converting amplifier, which is weighted in steps. The current steps are turned on or off by current switches, with the combination of switch settings determining the overall volume. The switching operation is controlled by a CPU according to the position of the volume knob. This combined signal current forms a variable gain circuit that adjusts the volume. Finally the combined current is converted back into a music signal by an I-V (current-volt) convertor. Because the music signal does not to pass through any variable resistors, there is no adverse influence from changes in impedance. This means that the outstanding S/N ratio and excellent THD of the amplifier is not compromised in any way, and the same superb sound quality will be obtained at any volume setting. 4. Speaker Protection Assembly using MOS-FET switches to reduce contact resistance. Large speaker terminals and edgewise coils allow for thick and short signal paths helping in attaining low impedance and high damping factor of 1000. 5. Temperature-sensors which detect the heatsink temperature are installed on the heatsink (2 sensors on each heatsink). Photo-Coupler isolates electrical surges, noise or unwanted voltages from the output signal, thus when these protection circuits are activated, they completely interrupt the speaker output. 6. Preamplifier and power amplifier sections can be used separately. Bi-amping is possible with another power amplifier, eg. E-800 Class A to Highs, Class A/B or Class D to Lows. 7. Formidable power amplification design allows this refined stalwart to drive virtually any load. Power doubles up with each halving of impedance down to 2 Ohm.
